The second volume, subtitled Intercultural Perspectives and co-published by the Elekóto Music Centre in Lagos — Euba’s own institution, at the University of Lagos Post Office, Àkọkà — and Bayreuth African Studies. Where the first volume is largely documentary, this one is programmatic: after two essays on popular and folk forms, it turns to Euba’s own compositional practice. The four essays are Jùjú, Fújì and the Intercultural Aspects of Modern Yoruba Popular Music; Concepts of Neo-African Music as Manifested in the Yoruba Folk Opera; My Approach to Neo-African Music Theatre; and Intercultural Expressions in Neo-African Art Music: Methods, Models and Means. The cover reproduces a print of Dúró Ládípọ by Bisi Fabunmi, one of the artists of the Ọ́ṣun-Òṣogbo workshops. The volume is priced on the imprint page at DM 29 and carries ISBN 3-927510-06-8; the back matter advertises the first fifteen titles of the Bayreuth African Studies Series under its editor Eckhard Breitinger.
