The OlongoAfrica Library project is funded by a grant from the Open Society Foundations, whose support made possible both the 2025 digitization of Black Orpheus and the 2026 acquisition and placement of 699 items across Nigerian partner libraries.

G.A.S Foundation Library, Lagos

Guest Artists Space (G.A.S) Foundation in Lagos is the primary host of the OlongoAfrica Library collection. Materials from both the 2025 and 2026 acquisitions are held here and are available to researchers and readers by appointment.

University of Ìbàdàn

Partner institution receiving donated scholarly materials, including volumes from the collection donated by Professor Ronald P. Schaefer of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

University of Benin

Partner institution receiving donated scholarly materials from the Schaefer donation.

Ronald P. Schaefer

Distinguished Research Professor Emeritus at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, and a leading scholar of Emai, an Edoid language of Edo State, Nigeria. Professor Schaefer donated approximately a dozen boxes of scholarly and literary books to the OlongoAfrica Library, including his personal collection of Studies in African Linguistics and Linguistic Inquiry, now held at OlongoAfrica and on the way to partner universities.
