Published the same month as the ninth and tenth, and the cover has given up on illustration altogether: the nickname JONALA is now the design, over The Third Press colophon. The copyright is 1972 though the issue is dated Summer and Fall 1971, and it is printed, like the fourth, by Cathay Press in Hong Kong. Rand Bishop opens with an essay on identifying a standard of African literary criticism through characterization in the novel; E. Taiwo Palmer writes on the plays of Sarif Easmon and Ernest Ekom on the development of theatre in Nigeria between 1960 and 1967. The poetry is by Femi Fatoba, who had worked with Wọlẹ Ṣóyínká in the Orisun Theatre Group, Syl Cheyney-Coker, Harold Head and Sharon Henderson, with fiction by Head. The jacket design is by Bennie Arrington.
