Volume XIX, Number 1, May 1989 — an issue thick with Edoid scholarship, and one that brings together three names this Library knows from elsewhere. FRANCIS O. EGBOKHARE, later Ronald Schaefer’s co-author on Emai in JALL, opens with Oisa-Francis on phono-semantic correspondence in deictics in EMAI; RICHARD A. MASAGBOR — Schaefer’s co-author on North Ibie in Vol. XIV No. 2 — writes on noun class and concord in Ivie, and GRACE A. MASAGBOR on glide formation and vowel elision in Ivie (North Ibie). Alongside them: YIWOLA AWOYALE on reduplication and the status of ideophones in Yorùbá; Méterwa A. Ourso on affixes in Lama; Wolfgang Paesler on statement and question in Beng; and Samuel G. Obeng on turn-taking in Obeng. The masthead now lists Pamela M. Bendor-Samuel as a second associate editor beside Ursula Wiesemann, with Lynell Marchese-Zogbo on book reviews from Daloa, Côte d’Ivoire.
