About this Issue
Volume IX, Number 1, March 1974 — and the issue that anchors this whole collection to where it is going. The title page reads “edited by CARL HOFFMANN, Department of Linguistics and Nigerian Languages, University of Ibadan, Nigeria”, and the imprint “published by the West African Linguistic Society at the Ibadan University Press”. The editorial note confirms it: this is the first issue of the Journal to be printed and published by the Ibadan University Press, with subscriptions through the University Bookshop and manuscripts to the Department of Linguistics and Nigerian Languages. Three articles: Robert Koops and John T. Bendor-Samuel on the recapitulating pronouns in Kuteb; AYỌ BAMGBOṢE on serial verbs and verbal status; and Paul F. Amon Kotey on consonantal labialization and consonant clusters in Gã. Printed in 10pt Bembo, October 1974.
