Brush Fire

Felix Tchikaya U'Tamsi's Brush Fire, published by Mbari in 1964, brought one of Francophone Africa's most important poets to an Anglophone audience. U'Tamsi's work — dense, surreal, and politically charged — drew on Congolese oral tradition and French symbolism to create a poetry of remarkable intensity.
