Twenty-four poems by Jean-Joseph Rabearivelo, translated into English and published by Mbari in 1962. Rabearivelo, who died in 1937, is considered the first modern African poet — a Malagasy writer who created a poetry that fused French symbolism with the traditional hain-teny of Madagascar. This Mbari translation brought him to an Anglophone African readership for the first time.
